project wide exception handler
[MySQL PDO example]

You can use try/catch for every db query, but it is a pain.

try {
    //your code
} catch (PDOException $e) {
    print $e->getMessage();

There is a better way.
You can set project-wide exception handler. It is very easy.

//START: application global exception handler
//using this allows me to catch errors script-wide
//without a need to use localised try/catch
function exception_handler($exception) {
  echo $exception->getMessage(). "\n";
//END: application global exception handler

Having above code in place, you can forget copying try/catch everytime, you choose to acces database.
